NOTICE BOARD. JANUARY 2010.

Below are a couple of pictures that show how you should tape up your electric weapons, using either cloth tape or a good quality electrical insulation tape. It is essential you do this to prevent white lights being registered as a non valid hit, due to a short circuit being formed. To start you should have a 10 – 15cm strip of tape laid vertically down the blade, starting just over the bottom of the barrel. This should then be wrapped around the blade. If you try and twist tape round and down the blade, too much tape is used and will cause the point to wobble more making hits difficult to make. Finally, a similar size strip should be twisted round the barrel. This should start at the rim of the barrel, so the tip point still depresses freely. You should check this regularly, and make any repairs prior to the start of fencing.   Remember club ties are now on Sale.

This is a general message for junior members.
As you may be aware there is a small waiting list for new junior members to join the club. This is a reminder that should you miss 3 sessions on the trot without informing me, your place may be lost and given to the next person on the waiting list. As people are generally too embarrassed to say fencing is not for them, they tend to just drift away leaving a space that could have been filled sooner rather than later.
Contact about an absentee should be made to me direct, and not left with third parties. This has just been highlighted when a members place was only saved by a stroke of luck as the third party had not passed on the message that they were unable to attend for more than 3 weeks.
I don't need to know every time, and I do not need to know reasons, its purely to help get people off the waiting list which stands at approximately 6 months at the moment.
Thanks ...Andie.
